Portraits capture time and space. As most of the buildings will be demolished and reused, exterior and interior space inside YSG will be gone. We want to capture the people in their natural habitat where they worked and lived.

This portrait project will document people inside the base in their own workplaces and living spaces. Each portrait will be taken by professional photographers with expertise to capture one’s story that occupy the space and time which will be erased once YSG is vacated. Each object and every corner of the portrait will have stories told by person(s) inside each portrait.
Only a handful of buildings with historical significance will remain when the new park opens. And sadly, the buildings that will be preserved will be transformed to serve other functions of the park. There will be no trace of who and what happened inside the buildings and places after the park is built. Artful documentation will try to capture the people and space inside the base.
Volunteers will be first interviewed by professional photographers. After screening and security clearance, photography session will be arranged. As the servicepersons have already started moving out of YSG, this is the most time pressing project for YSL.
