“Hi, I lived on South Post as a teenage dependent from 1971 to 1973. I attended the school there for 6th and 7th grade. My father, William R. Forrey, was Air Force and I believe a Major at the time.
We lived in a duplex near Gate 19 that backed up on to the perimeter wall, with a ROK facility behind it. I have learned from Google Earth that the house hasn’t existed for 10 years or so, but some of the neighboring houses still do.
My father and I took many photos during that time. I would like to share some of those. Some years ago I was in touch with Bill Smothers, who also has lots of great photos of the area, and who I see is also here. It’s nice to find this legacy site and hopefully preserve some of the rich history of the place.
In the early 1970s the Hartell House showed movies some evenings after dinner. My father would take us all there fairly frequently…we saw The French Connection there. Good memories and as I recall good food.
Photos to come!
