Note that not one of the G.I.’s that are in the line that has just now gotten off the ship is looking in the direction of the troops that are preparing to board ship? Can you imagin all the jokes and comments that the new troops are receiving? George Breen……….Thanks for the picture , Bill Strouse

Tomorrow is Veterans day, and I am sure that while serving with the 570th ord co, ,back in 1958 and 1959 this would have been a holiday, So there would be no work.
On our days off the G.I.’S were free to be in the village and the Korean girls were free to be in the 570th compound.. I a sure Marie and I would have been together on this day many years ago! May I never loose these memories. George Breen

I served with the 570th ord co (DAS) during the years 1958 and 1959. I understand the 570th was on the same location as , what was named, Hannam Village.
As I view this group, I see many pretty, crowded buildings that look much like a modern city, and I read many comments about school and apartments.
In the 570th, we had many non permenet structures, water brought in by trucks, and showers outside. We all know how cold it can get in Seoul
      But, duty was good!
A soldier could walk along any where and kick in the dirt or sometimes mud and kick up spent shells that were fired during war time! All permenet buildings had heavy damage that had been repaired.I once kicked up out of the dirt, a Chinesse ,baonet! (sorry about the spelling, but this is the way it should have been spelled).
I have never heard any comments from those brave men that were there while these shells were being spilled on the ground or from those that knows this part and time in South Korean history! Veteran Day thought ,2017 from , George Breen

My name is George Breen, I served with the U.S. Army at this location during the years 1958 and 1959. This was then the location of the 570th ORD. CO.. (D.A.S.) . The square gate post on the right side of the gat appears to be the same post as was used on the 570th front gate. I can’t remember the month, but I left the 570th on a Thrusday morning, 1959. I left many close Korean friends that I worked with every day, and a Korean girl that I loved. These memories are never forgotten .

I have been searching for the most part of 20 years for Marie and , or her brother or sister. I have never received a positive reply! I came to know Marie and her family while I was serving with the 570th ord co DAS, back in 1958 and 1959.
If anyone has any information about Marie, perhaps knowing her, or serving in the 570th, Or knowing a friend of Marie’s, or knowing anything at all about the village that surrounded the 570th ord co., please contact me! If you could only share with me, seeing Seoul in the 1950’s , I would enjoy that sao much. George Breen

Yes! this appears to be the same building as the 570th ord co (DAS), NCO club in 1958 and 1959! The window air condition units and the door way have been changed , but the building does match a photo that I have!
Marie and I woul be sure to visit the club on Sunday evening for a movie and Wednesday evening for Bingo! These memories just don’t go away! Thanks for posting the picture. George Breen

It remains hard to believe that no one has commented on these flyers with Marie’s picture on them. Surely there are a few older adult Korean people that still live in the area that once knew Marie?

The flyers certainly remained in good condition , out side in the weather
If anyone has any information about Marie or her family , please contact Yongsan Legacy, or any one that posts here. Surely some of you older Koreans remember her? Thank you, George Breen
