One of the halls in the 121st Evac hospital on South post.

This hall leads to the new wing of the hospital. I was born in this hospital….also in 1969 when I was in Ms. Higa’s class (2nd grade)….I was hit by a two ton truck in Itaewon and spent three months in the hospital here. Ms. Higa came and visited me almost every day. I loved her! 🙂

TRUE STORY:

In December 1999 when I was in the Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Cheryl (my wife) went to the post office in Pearl City to mail off some packages to her family in Indiana. When she got to the post office….she started taking out some of the boxes out of the car and placing them in the space next to the car since it was empty. Well a car pulled up and wanted that space….so Cheryl move the boxes to the curb. The person in the car….pull into the parking space and got out….as the lady got out of her car she looked at the boxes that Cheryl was stacking and noticed the name: YESCHENKO on the boxes. The lady tells Cheryl…..I use to know a boy named YESCHENKO. Cheryl tells the lady well my husbands name is Peter YESCHENKO….the lady tells Cheryl….well I had a boy by the name Peter YESCHENKO in my 2nd grade class in Korea many years ago. You guessed it….it was Ms. Higa. Cheryl gave her my number and we hooked up for lunch. Also my mom was visiting me and Ms. Higa and my mom use to hang out a little in Korea….so my mom and Ms. Higa ended up going out a few times while my mom was in Hawaii. 🙂
