Korean War Veteran, George Breen, holding a sign : Looking for Marie and her siblings

Marie is the oldest sister of 3 siblings who lost their parents during the Korean War. Her younger sister, Hwan Ong Soon and younger brother Hwang Bong Soon were living with her during the years 1958 and 1959 when George met them. They used to live around what currently is 741-13  Hannam-dong, Yongsan Gu, near the current Leeum Museum.

They exchanged letters with George for seven more years after his departure back to USA until 1964 that they lost contact.  During all this time He has been trying to search for them with no luck.

During the time that George lived in Korea Marie stole his heart. Things were politically complicated those days so  George could not take Marie and her siblings with him to America. Despite the years and the distance the presence of Marie in George’s heart is still alive.
